Support Programs
Little Day Out
Little Day Out is a program for people living with CF, designed to provide a fun family activity. Little Day Out offers vouchers up to $200pa for eligible members to share a fun activity or experience with their loved ones. Only limited by your imagination, popular choices in the past have been restaurant, accommodation or travel vouchers, movie tickets, theme park tickets, or stage shows. Members can apply for one Little Day Out per year. Please remember that CFT operates on a calendar financial year – so your entitlements will “reset” on 1 January each year.
The Little Day Out was established thanks to the fundraising efforts of the staff of Myer Hobart, with funds matched by the Myer Community Fund. It has proven popular with members and was recently replicated by some other CF Associations in Australia.
Parent Events
CFT understands that living with CF, or having a family member with the condition, can be isolating. Unfortunately, due to the risks associated with cross-infection, we cannot have get-togethers with members who live with CF.
From time to time, CFT runs parent events to break down some of the isolation parents of children with CF can feel. The activities could include a mum’s lunch, Sip and Paint, high tea, or a dads golf day. The events will be advertised to members in the area where they are held. If you haven’t been invited to one or have an idea for one, please email us here.
Baby Steps
If you don’t have a family history of CF, receiving a diagnosis of your newborn having the condition can be an emotional time.
CF Community Care have developed a useful resource, Baby Steps. As well as answering questions about the condition, it has some valuable information on the various emotions you, or your loved ones, may feel after diagnosis.
Individual Support and Advocacy
If you have a question or need information you can’t find online, our office is always happy to chat with you individually. A quick phone call to our CEO can often help you find out about resources or programs you weren’t aware of.
CFT can also provide advice and advocacy for your dealings with external organisations when you haven’t been able to have your voice heard or not achieve your desired outcome.
